Macau is introducing new services to empower local businesses to capitalize on opportunities within the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, as reported by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of Macau.
Through the “Cross-Border Commercial Registration Facilitation Services,” Macau enterprises can now complete commercial registration procedures and obtain necessary business licenses without leaving Macau. This simplifies the process, significantly reducing time and costs for investors aiming to establish operations in the zone.
Since the launch of this service, over 100 applications have been processed, resulting in nearly 90 completed commercial registrations. Notably, more than 40% of these registrations fall under sectors such as integrated tourism, big health, modern finance, high technology, and culture and sports. The initiative has also attracted foreign investors from countries like Portugal, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Australia, who view Macau as a strategic gateway to both domestic and international markets.
To further support investors, IPIM and Hengqin authorities have introduced the “Prior Technical Meeting” mechanism, which facilitates online consultations for prospective investors. Developed in collaboration with various government bodies, this initiative allows businesses to engage directly with relevant departments, receiving personalized advice on administrative procedures and license applications. It aims to enhance understanding of investment processes and expedite project establishment in the Cooperation Zone. Victoria Chan
