Planning for a professional treatment venue to provide services for mentally handicapped students aged three to 21 is underway. According to the Macao Association of Parents of Mentally Handicapped Persons, the group is still looking for a suitable commercial building and will decide on the location after the Lunar New Year (at the earliest). The new center is expected to provide 90 places. Currently, the group assesses 700 children every year. The association’s speech and occupational therapy venues are basically full, and the group hopes to build a new center and hire more therapists to provide services.
