Director of the Marine and Water Bureau, Susanna Wong, stated in an interview that there are currently no plans to raise residential water rates. While Macau’s economy is gradually recovering, SMEs and residents still face financial pressure, she noted. Wong added that the bureau has begun discussions with Guangdong on adjusting raw water prices supplied to Macau every three years. Factoring in the consumer price index, electricity, and pumping costs, the raw water price is expected to rise 6–7% in 2026. Overall water consumption slightly declined last year, with cumulative subsidies remaining stable at over MOP227 million.
