Authorities have received 1,062 complaints of illegal tourist accommodation since 2022, involving 1,377 residential units. The Macao Government Tourism Office and Public Security Police reported that ZAPE, NAPE, and Taipa are hotspots for such activity. Officials highlighted efforts to encourage property owners to report cases proactively. Under current law, owners who report before being investigated may avoid penalties.
