Policeman shoots own thigh while training

A policeman has allegedly accidentally shot himself in the thigh while on an instructors’ training session at the the Academy of Public Security Forces yesterday. According to a statement, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident and to avoid such incidents in the future. The participants of the shooting session had been reportedly training for days after concluding theory courses. The police officer, who has been at the Public Security Police since 1997, is in a stable condition after being rushed to the public hospital.

Property price index stable

The overall residential property price index for August – October 2022 held steady compared to the previous period (July – September 2022) at 250.4, data from the Statistics and Census Service shows. The index for the Macau Peninsula (250.2) grew by 0.2% while that for Taipa & Coloane (251.1) dropped by 0.8%. Analyzed by age of building, the indices for residential units of buildings between six and 10 years old and for those over 20 years old decreased by 1.3% and 0.3% respectively, whereas the index for those between 11 and 20 years old grew by 1.4%.

Cultural organizations increase to over 2,700

A total of 2,764 organisations were operating in the four core domains of cultural industries in Macau in 2021, namely ‘Creative design’, ‘Cultural exhibitions & performances’, ‘Art collection’ and ‘Digital media’. The figure represented an increase of 248 year-on-year, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Total number of persons engaged rose by 1.4% to 12,067, and Compensation of Employees went up by 1.4% to MOP 2.13 billion. Total Service Receipts grew by 12.3% to MOP 5.67 billion.
