Portuguese officials visit CESL Asia to explore agriculture and solar energy collaboration

CESL Asia hosted Portuguese Secretary of State for Agriculture Eng. João Moura and Consul General Dr. Alexandre Leitão at its head office yesterday, accompanied by Dr. Rios de Oliveira of the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency and his team.

The visit focused on CESL Asia’s flagship Monte do Pasto farm in Alentejo, Portugal, a 4,200-hectare project integrating sustainable agriculture with solar energy production.

In a statement, the local firm said that discussions centered on dual-use land projects, combining crop cultivation with solar panel installations to increase productivity, improve water retention, and provide farmers with additional income. CESL Asia’s “Business Platform of Investments with an Impact” promotes solutions that enhance food and energy security while supporting local farming communities.

CESL Asia president António Trindade emphasized the model’s potential to benefit farmers and society.

“The proposal and business model of CESL Asia were met with great enthusiasm, and the parties plan to continue discussions in Lisbon to form the working teams that will turn this vision into a reality,” Trindade said.
