Prison’s smoking areas may be allowed

The creation of smoking areas inside the Macau prison is a decision that will be made by its director, the president of the Standing Committee of the Legislative Assembly (AL) said yesterday as he addressed changes to the Regime for Prevention and Control of Tobacco Use.
“The director of the prison can determine the area for that purpose,” said Chan Chak Mo, as cited by Radio Macau, who spoke on the sidelines of the meeting addressing the law review held yesterday by the Second Standing Committee of the AL .
Another of the questions debated by the committee is the authorization of the creation of “Smoking Rooms” inside casinos. “The government is still studying the matter. Nothing is decided yet on the creation of such areas,” said Chan who noted that the committee members had questioned the government on the topic. He remarked that a consensus on the matter has not yet been reached.
