Sands China Presents ‘Youth Talent Development System’ and Honours Summer Programme Graduates

A recent presentation at The Londoner Macao showcased Sands China’s Youth Talent Development System, the company’s long-established talent development strategy, to government agencies, educational institutions, and industry partners. A graduation ceremony followed for 154 local youth who completed summer internship programmes at Sands China’s properties, recognising their achievement.

The event highlighted the overall framework of Sands China’s talent development system, which addresses the diverse needs of local youth in Macao at four different stages:

Secondary School: Sands China collaborated with the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center and Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional to launch Macao’s first Three-year secondary school programme focusing on stage technology and event production. Meanwhile, the Diverse Development Lab series of activities helps secondary school students gradually build the skills necessary for transitioning from school to the workplace.

University: The company launched Macao’s first Career Experience Opportunity (CEO) programme, offering part-time training to university students, while the Sands China Integrated Resort Internship Programme allows university students to apply their classroom knowledge. The Sands China Summer Trainee Programme hires university students for summer jobs, while company management visits campuses for special lectures to share industry information and insights with students. The company also hosts property visits for teachers and students from various institutions.

Post-graduation: Sands China has collaborated with the Labour Affairs Bureau to launch 23 elite development programmes over the years, offering fast-track promotions and a “hire and train” model; these programmes also help participants gain internationally recognised professional qualifications. Additionally, the company has supported the Bureau’s internship initiatives, giving graduates opportunities to gain practical experience.

Employment: Sands China provides on-the-job training through the Sands China Academy, which comprises eight specialised sub-academies offering a diverse range of courses. The company takes full advantage of its comprehensive business operation to offer a variety of horizontal and vertical mobility opportunities to its team members, helping them continuously enhance their professional competitiveness. Sands China has also fully sponsored team members to attain international certifications.

Sands China’s core value of talent cultivation supports the SAR government’s “1+4” moderate diversification strategy.
