Second-tier’ channels in Cooperation Zone start testing
Several “second-tier” channels in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, including Hengqin Bridge, Hengqin Tunnel and Shenjing Passage, were scheduled to start comprehensive operational testing from yesterday, according to a notice issued by the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone. Currently, there are seven customs surveillance zones in five “second-tier” channels. According to regulations, when travelers (excluding non-resident travelers) carry goods with a value of no more than RMB8,000 and enter the Chinese mainland via the “second-tier” channels from the zone, their goods will be released duty-free by Customs.
