Shenzhen Bay Port, the city’s only land crossing on the west side, has logged more than 10 million passenger trips so far this year. Of those, over 6.3 million were made by residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and 200,000 by foreign nationals. Some 2.25 million travelers from Hong Kong and Macao have used a “document-free” policy, entering and exiting with facial and fingerprint recognition instead of physical IDs.
