FOOD: SOPHISTICATED THAI

smart-thaiThe flavors of Thai cuisine can be very strong, often too salty, too sweet, too spicy, just way too much intensity for me, but I have found a sophisticated Thai restaurant with dishes and flavors that have been toned down a bit, yet still in line with the art of traditional Thai cuisine in all its splendor. Presenting the authentic tastes of Thai cuisine at its best, Saffron at Banyan Tree Macau allows us to savor Thai flavors in a contemporary yet classically elegant setting. The lights are dimmed and you will, on certain days, find a Thai artist playing traditional Thai music alongside your dining table.
Traditional cooking methods reminiscent of the techniques passed down from generation to generation are steep in Saffron’s culinary presentation. Saffron sets itself above the rest as a premium restaurant offering fine Thai cuisine complemented with the warm and graceful service distinctive of the renowned hospitality of Banyan Tree and Thailand.
smart-tai-2Ms. Kanokwan Pungjaroenkijkul, Gina, is the Chef du Cuisine of Saffron restaurant at Banyan Tree Macau. She has earned an excellent reputation in her native Thailand from securing a gold and silver medal in the national “Thai Food Competition” for three consecutive years from 2004 – 2006; and a silver medal in the celebrated “Som Tam Contest” in 2005.
Other than having an award-winning chef and mouthwatering dishes, the most exciting element about Saffron is that it now has an extensive buffet featuring the best of traditional Thai cuisine and a large selection of fresh seafood on every Saturday night. So don’t hesitate to make a reservation!
