Donald Trump is confident China wouldn’t invade Taiwan if he returns to the White House.
Why? Because Chinese President Xi Jinping “knows I’m f——— crazy.”
That’s according to Trump’s latest interview with the Wall Street Journal editorial board, which published highlights from the 90-minute sit-down on Friday.
Trump said it would be “very easy” to persuade China’s leader to stand down from a blockade of Taiwan.
“I had a very strong relationship with him. He was actually a really good, I don’t want to say friend—I don’t want to act foolish, ‘he was my friend’—but I got along with him great,” Trump told the Journal editorial board. “He stayed at Mar-a-Lago with me, so we got to know each other great. He’s a very fierce person.”
And how exactly would his relationship with Xi prevent an invasion of Taiwan?
First, Trump said he would threaten to impose tariffs of 150% to 200%.
Asked whether he would use military force, Trump responded: “I wouldn’t have to, because he respects me and he knows I’m f——— crazy.”
