UM breaks into Top 200 in world university rankings

The University of Macau (UM) has climbed into the top 200 of the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, coming in at number 193. This is an improvement from last year when it was ranked between 201-250. UM also moved up one spot in the Asian University rankings to number 36 from 37.

Meanwhile, the University of Science and Technology Macau fell to between 251-300 this year after being ranked 201-250 in 2023. The University of St. Joseph Macau was also included but did not receive a specific ranking.

The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom held onto the top spot for the seventh consecutive year since 2017. China’s highest-ranked schools were Tsinghua University at 12th and Peking University at 14th. The University of Hong Kong dropped four places to 35th.

13 Chinese universities now rank in the worldwide top 200, nearly double the seven from four years ago in 2020.
