UM team develops technology to turn sewage waste into valuable resources

A University of Macau (UM) research team has developed a technology to extract valuable resources from sewage sludge, promoting waste recycling and reuse. Led by Faculty of Science Associate Professor Hao Tianwei, the project has been under development since 2017 and is expected to reach commercialization within two years. The technology can extract sodium alginate for construction material repair and additives for fish feed. The team is now advancing industrial applications after completing safety tests.
