3-young-musicians-macauThe “34th Macau Young Musicians Competition” will open to applicants between April 22 and 29, according to a press statement released by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
The competition, which will be held between July 25 and August 7 across several venues in Macau, celebrates Chinese and Western instruments and seeks to develop an interest in classical music among young musicians.
According to the IC, this year’s competition features 32 categories of solo Chinese and Western instruments and vocal solos, with elementary, intermediate and advanced levels in each category.
First, second and third prizes, certificates of merit and certificates of competence will be awarded to winners in each category. First-place winners will further be eligible to participate in a competition for special awards.
Additionally, prizes will be awarded as scholarships to certain first-
place prize-winning individuals across the categories and advanced levels. The amount of the scholarship will be equal to the net amount of the winner’s first year tuition fee in a music-related course, says the IC.
In order to apply, candidates are required to pay an application fee of MOP 80, and submit supporting documents to the IC.
