A mainland man has been caught breaking into the Zhuhai Border Area of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge wearing only underwear. He has subsequently been fined 2,000 Chinese yuan.
The man told law enforcement personnel that he wanted to go swimming under the bridge.
While citing mainland news reports, local media Macao Daily News noted that the man, who was in a state of undress, entered the border area illegally on the evening of April 6. Law enforcement personnel attempted to stop him, but he did not respond and instead tried to flee the scene.
After a 600-meter chase, members of law enforcement managed to intercept him by running at him from two directions.
The man told law enforcement entities that he, a tourist in Zhuhai, saw and became overwhelmed by the scale of the bridge after drinking beer that evening. Suddenly wanting to swim below the bridge, he undressed and rushed into the border area. AL
