Air Macau issues ticket flexibility measures ahead of Typhoon Bavi

Air Macau announced on Wednesday a set of special ticketing measures to accommodate passengers affected by the anticipated impact of Typhoon Bavi. The guidelines offer greater flexibility for travel changes and refunds on select regional routes.

Typhoon Bavi is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall to parts of southern China and the Taiwan Strait.

The measures apply to all tickets issued or reissued on or before July 8, 2026, covering flights between Macau and Taiwan destinations, including Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung. Eligible travel dates fall between July 10 and July 12, the period when the storm is expected to disrupt air traffic.

In its announcement, the airline said the policy is intended to help affected passengers adjust their travel plans and minimize disruptions during the adverse weather period.

Passengers may make one free change to their travel date or itinerary without reissue fees, provided the new travel date is on or before Aug. 31, 2026. Any further changes will be subject to standard fare conditions.

Air Macau also said it will waive administrative fees for full refunds, though tickets already modified under the special policy will follow the revised fare rules if a refund is later requested. The airline added that tickets are non-transferable, meaning passengers who wish to switch carriers must first request a refund and then book a new ticket independently.

The company noted that tickets altered or canceled before July 8 will not be eligible for fee reimbursement.
