Thirty-nine countries, including Angola, are signed up to take part in the 2014 Luanda International Fair (Filda), the event’s manager, Francisco Coutinho said Tuesday in Luanda.
Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, Coutinho noted participation by African countries particularly Kenya and Zimbabwe, which are taking part in the fair for the first time. Zimbabwe will take up the greatest amount of space at the fair – 108 square metres – and have 10 companies at the fair. Kenya will also take 10 companies to this year’s Filda.
Coutinho also said that two new pavilions were being built at the Filda facilities to meet the high demand for space from exhibitors to take part in Angola’s largest business fair.
The 31st edition of Filda, which will be open from 22 to 17 July, is entitled “The Challenges of Attracting Investment – Strategy, Legislation, Institutions, Infrastructure and Human Resources.”
The fair, which was first held in 1983, is intended, amongst other things, to attract investment, promote development of sustainable sectors in the country and contribute to partnerships as well as creating manufacturing industries that to meet consumer demand.  MDT/Macauhub
