Third-party online payment platform Alipay has finalised agreements with 10 international airports which will come into play October 1, Securities Times reported. The Macau International Airport is one of the 10 airports included, together with Hong Kong International Airport and other Asian facilities like Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, Singapore’s Changi, Seoul Incheon and Taoyuan International Airport.
The list includes other locations worldwide like Munich and Auckland Airport.

Hotel room rates surge for national day holidays

As China’s National Day Golden Week approaches, hotel room rates in Macau are expected to surge by 35 to 80 percent over the period of October 1 to 4, travel agencies in Guangdong revealed to Macao Daily News. The figures were reached relative to the lodging rates for the previous and subsequent days. The report stated that three-star hotels are registering the most significant rise in prices while four- and five-star hotels record a growth of about 50 percent.

PJ arrests 26 in criminal organization crackdown

A crackdown by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on a criminal organization operating in the region has resulted in the arrest of 26 people, the police force informed. According to the information provided, the 26 suspects in custody were part of a criminal scheme involving usury. All of the suspects involved are mainland Chinese residents.
