Kam Sut Leng was elected as the new president of the New Macau Association. Following Friday’s election, the board of directors of the association will also include lawmaker Sulu Sou and Wong Kin Long as vice-presidents. Kam replaces Scott Chiang as the head of the association.

‘My Macau My Love!’ photo exhibition announced

Around 500 photos were submitted in this year’s “My Macau My Love!” photo contest. The best works will be exhibited at the Rui Cunha Foundation Gallery, located at the Avenida Praia Grande, from November 25 until December 8. The winning entries in the general category were captured by Lei Heong Ieong, Li Man Lok and Chan U Long. In the student’s category, Ao Hou Fai, Chio Song Hin and Chao Chi Hun were the winners. The contest is a joint initiative of the International Institute of Macau (IIM), in collaboration with the Macao Digital Photography Association and Leo Club Macau Central, and with the support of the Macao Foundation.

Kiang Wu plans to offer assisted reproductive service

The Kiang Wu Hospital is preparing itself in all aspects to apply for a license to provide assisted reproductive services. The vice superintendent of the hospital, Chan Tai Ip, said that assisted reproductive professionals are ready to offer the service and that the hospital has also carried out related training. More specifically, it formed a professional team consisting of approximately 12 surgeons, technicians and nurses. An array of sophisticated equipment has also been prepared. Chan expects the hospital to conclude the evaluation of the determining factors (these devices and the environment) during May 2018.

Fresh food to arrive in Macau one hour earlier daily

Fresh food coming from Zhuhai to Macau will likely be transported one hour earlier every day, the President of the Civil and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) José Tavares announced yesterday. According to a report by TDM, the governments of both Zhuhai and Macau have already reached an agreement regarding the topic, with both governments’ current spending efforts aiming to implement the policy within the year. So far, as noticed by José Tavares, the progress has been running well. This change is hoped to make the operations of Macau’s new wholesale market more efficient.

DSEJ to enhance China anthem education

Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) Leong Vai Kei said that the bureau will enhance the educational and spiritual elements of the China anthem. Leong said that the current course framework in Macau already contains sections related to the anthem and that the majority of Macau’s students know how to sing it. As emphasized by Leong, most schools have been organizing a flag raising ceremony as well as playing the anthem at appropriate events. The education authority will supplement teaching materials with information about the anthem and will also organize events to highlight the educational points included in the anthem.
