Cantopop superstar Jacky Cheung performed a record-breaking 12 shows at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena between June 9 and July 2, selling more than 109,000 tickets on the first leg of his 10th world tour.
The FWD Insurance 10th Anniversary Presents: Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour was slated for six nights only, with the number of shows doubled after quickly selling out.
“I believe the shows also helped stimulate domestic consumption and boost the local economy,” said Lawrence Che, founder and CEO of Chessman Entertainment Production and director-general of the Macau Federal Commercial Association of the Convention & Exhibition Industry.
In a bid to drive more international tourism to Macau and increase the number of first-time and repeat visitors, Sands China pledged that it would “continue bringing in A-list concerts, sporting events, theatre productions and other new-to-market attractions.”
