CE kicks off visit to Cambodia and Thailand today

government delegation will visit Cambodia and Thailand starting today. The delegation will be led by Chief Executive Chui Sai On. The five-day visit is aimed at reinforcing mutual cooperation and exchange in the areas of tourism and economic and trade matters.

During the visit, the delegation will hold meetings in Phnom Penh and Bangkok with senior officials from the two countries and attend activities hosted by the SAR.
In Phnom Penh, the Chief Executive will meet with leaders of the Cambodian government, the national assembly, the country’s senate and the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, the Government Information Bureau said in a statement. Chui will also attend a presentation about Macau’s tourism and investment environment. Additionally, the CE will attend a youth round-table session regarding opportunities arising from the “Belt and Road” initiative, and will discuss ways to support exchange and friendship between young people from the two places, and the development of closer ties between the SAR and Cambodia.
While in Bangkok, the CE will meet with government officials and the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand. Chui will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of friendship city status between Phuket Province and Macau.
The delegation will also attend a presentation hosted by the SAR on economic and trade ties between the two places as well as on the development of tourism in Thailand and Macau. Meanwhile, during the Bangkok leg of the trip, the delegation will attend the “2018 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum”, a platform promoted by the SAR to explore the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine.

The trip to Cambodia and Thailand marks the first time that representatives of the “Gathering of Thousand Talents” have been invited to join the CE on an official overseas visit.
