Cinderella ballet kicks off Macau’s children’s arts festival

The Ballet of the National Theatre Brno from the Czech Republic officially opens the 2nd Macau International Children’s Arts Festival (MICAF) today with their production of Cinderella.
Three performances are scheduled at the Grand Auditorium of the Macau Cultural Centre today at 7:30 p.m., tomorrow at 3 p.m., and July 6 at 3 p.m.
At a media sharing session held yesterday at the Macao Cultural Center, representatives from the Ballet of the National Theatre Brno expressed enthusiasm for their first performances in Macau.
The ballet tells the classic fairy tale of Cinderella, a kind young woman mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, who is magically transformed by her fairy godmother to attend a royal ball.
The story unfolds through expressive dance set to Sergei Prokofiev’s evocative score, featuring enchanting elements such as seasonal fairies and magical transformations – all without spoken dialogue.
Choreographed by Markéta Habalová, the production brings Prokofiev’s music to life with expressive and dynamic movement.
It runs approximately 1 hour and 55 minutes with one interval.
