The Asia Pacific Poker Tour had claimed that APPT Manila Season 9 (July 30 – August 9) would be one of the biggest poker festivals the country’s ever seen.
On Friday evening, that claim became official as the Main Event’s finally tally came in at 585 entrants – making it the largest international Main Event field held in the Philippines.
The Top 72 finishers will cash for a share of the ₱25,535,250 (USD 558,000) prize pool with the winner taking home ₱6,016,250 (USD 131,000) which includes a HKD100,000 entry to the 2015 ACOP Main Event in November.
“This is going to change the way people perceive poker in the Philippines,” said Gerardo ‘Hill’ Alim, the PokerStars LIVE Manila Poker Room Manager. “I’m blown away by the turnout in the Main Event which was truly international with 41 countries represented.”
