In preparation for Chinese New Year, Sands Cares Ambassadors helped to clean the homes of approximately 100 elderly residents living alone at Seac Pai Van public housing in Coloane on Saturday.
The spring-cleaning is one in a year-long series of celebratory activities leading up to the 10th anniversary of the Sands Cares Ambassador program in August 2019, which will have the theme ‘Spreading Love and Embracing Our Community’.
It is the 10th year in a row that volunteers from Sands China have visited the homes of elderly residents living alone at the Peng On Tung Tele- Assistance
Sands China Ltd. President Dr. Wilfred Wong, who participated in Saturday’s activity said, “the elderly, in particular, are treasured members of the community, and it is our collective responsibility to help care for them in their golden years.”
With cleaning supplies in hand, nearly 150 Sands Cares Ambassadors also gave out Chinese New Year gift packs purchased from Fuhong Society of Macau, which contain useful staples like oil, grain and noodles.
MGM presents first art exhibition of the year
MGM is presenting “Celebrating Life – Ju Ming Living World Sculpture Selling Exhibition” to kick start the company’s first public art project of the year. From now until April 7, the renowned artist’s “Living World” series will be exhibiting at MGM Cotai.
The series features Ju’s survey on human relationships with an emphasis on the aesthetic concept of merging art into life, as cited in a press release by the gaming operator.
Living World series is one of the most iconic series of Ju Ming, conveying Ju’s exploration on human sentiments using vivid and lively images and postures, with a number of works particularly depicting traditional family values.
MGM exhibits over 40 pieces of unique wood carving works by Ju, including painted wood, black and white painted wood, as well as wood relief sculptures.
