Corporate bits | Wynn donates MOP80 million to UM Development Foundation

Wynn Resorts Macau recently donated MOP80 million to the University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF) to support the long-term development of the University of Macau (UM) and its Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management (APAEM).

The donation is part of a commitment made by Wynn Resorts Macau to UMDF in 2011. According to a press release from Wynn, the continuous support has enabled APAEM to conduct independent and groundbreaking research, with the academy backed by a strong teaching and advisory team of well-known scholars, including three Nobel Prize laureates who serve on its Honorary Advisory Board.

In the press release, the company states that it has always supported the development of education and the nurturing of highly skilled, local employees as the company strongly believes that education is the foundation of a society’s most important values, namely knowledge and culture. Through their efforts, Wynn aims to play a key role in developing local expertise and sharing knowledge throughout the region.

Seafood expo asia to take place  in Hong Kong this September

The Seafood Expo Asia which is returning to Hong Kong for the eighth time will take place from September 5 to 7 at Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This year’s Seafood Expo Asia will enable visitors to discover a variety of seafood products, services and equipment from Asia and around the world.

Based on last year’s success, the event attracted more than 8,800 seafood professionals from 69 countries and the 2017 edition of Seafood Expo Asia will feature a diverse program with a host of innovative exhibits showcasing brands. The exposition will give consumers the chance to meet new and existing suppliers, hear from experts on current trends in the industry and participate in special events.

According to the World Bank, the Asia Pacific region will account for 70 percent of global fish consumption by 2030.

Event director, Iris Kwan, stated that “forming relationships with customers in this part of the world is vital for global seafood producers and suppliers when one considers that seafood consumption is projected for considerable growth across the entire region.”

Kwan confirmed that the exposition will feature both new companies and newly participating countries showcasing a diverse range of the world’s seafood.
