The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) said it is conducting studies on solid waste management, including measures for recycling and handling retired electric vehicle batteries, as usage continues to grow. In response to a written inquiry from Legislative Assembly vice president Ho Ion Sang, the bureau said the contract for its electronic and electrical equipment recycling programme has strengthened requirements for handling EV batteries. Batteries that cannot be reused will undergo professional dismantling, discharge and sealing procedures before being exported for further recycling and resource recovery in neighboring regions in line with the Basel Convention.
