East-Timor wants more investment from Indonesia

East Timor’s minister of state and of foreign affairs and cooperation, Jose Luis Guterres, said in Jakarta that his country expects more private investment from Indonesia particularly in the infrastructure, oil and energy sectors. According to the Antara news agency, Guterres said that private investment may also support small and medium-sized Timorese businesses. The minister also admitted that the development of Indonesia could help Timor-Leste. Guterres said that one example of two-way cooperation was the construction of Dili airport , which was awarded to Indonesian company, Wijaya Karya as part of a US$50 million investment. The minister said that over 100 foreign companies are based in Timor-Leste and 8,000 Indonesians live and work in the country.  MDT/Macauhub
