Fake Taobao customer service scam costs victims MOP1.39m

The Judiciary Police (PJ) reported three fraud cases involving scammers posing as Taobao customer service staff, with three local victims losing a combined MOP1.387 million. One victim alone lost MOP948,000. The victims, two young women and an elderly man, received calls or messages claiming their Alipay accounts required monthly payments. The scammers offered to cancel the charges and tricked them into sharing bank details and personal information, then instructed them to log into accounts and make transfers. Victims later discovered unauthorized transactions and reported the cases.
