Fitch maintains Macau’s long-term credit rating at ‘AA’

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) said in a statement that Fitch Ratings had maintained Macau’s long-term foreign and local currency issuer default ratings at “AA” with a “stable” outlook. According to the AMCM, the international rating agency reaffirmed Macau’s “AA” rating (the third-highest), primarily based on its exceptionally strong fiscal and external positions and the government’s adherence to prudent fiscal management, even during periods of economic adjustment. Meanwhile, Fitch forecast that the local economy will expand at a moderate pace this year, supported by favorable travel policies, increased non-gaming investment, and enhanced tourism infrastructure.
