The tender for the maintenance work on Sai Van Bridge was opened yesterday, with construction expected to begin in the first quarter of next year. The Public Works Bureau (DSOP) noted that, after over 20 years in a marine environment, the bridge shows surface corrosion on its reinforced concrete structure, and its ancillary facilities, including cable-stayed cables, have reached the end of their service life. The authorities received nine bids, all of which were accepted, with project costs ranging from over MOP69 million to over MOP78 million and construction periods of 475 to 492 working days. Maintenance will include work on the main bridge girders, piers, sidewalks, and cable-stayed structures, with only partial lane closures required at night.
