The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has announced that at least MOP6 million will be diverted toward restoring five of the six former leper colony buildings in Coloane. The work, which is expected to start before the end of the year, will include a study over whether the site could become a tourist attraction in the future, to be conducted by the Macau Government Tourist Office. Several officials, including the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam (front left) also visited the site yesterday to learn more about the state of the buildings.
