MGTO researching ways to reduce number of buses around St Paul’s

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is researching possible solutions to the traffic congestion caused by the number of tour buses in the St Paul’s Ruins area, together with other organizations in the sector, said MGTO director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.
Senna Fernandes was speaking on the sidelines of the press conference for the launch of the 2016 Global Tourism Economy Forum.
Senna Fernandes said the previous “Tap Seac solution,” which proposed that tour buses park at the Tap Seac parking lot for heavy vehicles, was “not well received by the [tourism] agencies.”
“For children, elderly people and others with reduced mobility, [it] might not have been a pleasant solution,” she said, due to the long walking distance from Tap Seac Square over changing terrain.
She put forth several other solutions, including “other [areas to park buses] or to proceed to a wider area to allow the picking up and disembarkation of passengers.”
The final drop-off and pick-up points, she said, would not be too near the St Paul’s area, nor would it be as far as Tap Seac Square.
