Four arrested in Cotai loan sharking case

The Judiciary Police arrested four mainland men for loan sharking and unlawful confinement after allegedly detaining a gambler who borrowed HKD1 million at a Cotai casino. Charged with HKD800,000 in interest after losing, the victim was held in a hotel room and had his ID seized. He alerted casino staff while calling for help, leading to his rescue. One suspect remains at large. Police said such illegal lending and detention will be prosecuted to protect public safety.
