Two Olympic gold medalists enroll as PhD students at MPU

Two Olympic champions are among 3,000 new students at Macau Polytechnic University (MPU) this year. Swimmer Jiao Liuyang, who won gold in the women’s 200-meter butterfly at the 2012 London Olympics, and rower Zhang Yangyang, part of China’s gold-medal women’s quadruple sculls team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, have joined MPU’s Physical Education and Sports Science doctoral program. MPU is the only university in Macau offering undergraduate to doctoral programs in sports science.
