Francis Tam meets leading Yunan Province official

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Francis Tam, met with the Executive Vice Governor of Yunan Province Li Jiang during the 10th Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation and Development Forum and Trade Fair (PPRD Forum) in Guangzhou on Saturday.
The Secretary said that he was looking forward to strengthening cooperation between Macau and Yunan.
“I hope that in the future, no matter if it is the collaboration over tourism, economic and trade, and conventions and exhibitions, Macau can obtain more support from the Governor as a platform between mainland China and the Portuguese-
speaking countries (PLP),” he said.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Li Jiang has asked Mr Tam to pass on his congratulations to Chief Executive Chui Sai On for his re-election.  She also thanked the government and people of Macau on behalf of the Yunan government for the donation of 100 million patacas to support the after-quake relief work in Ludian, Yunan, which enabled disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction to be proceeded in good progress.
The Vice Governor then said that Yunan Province expressed its gratitude to Macau for playing a special role in facilitating exchanges and cooperation. She also recognized the city’s contributions to the economic development of Yunan, and hoped to strengthen interactions with the PLP through Macau as a service platform.
According to Li Jiang, there were 49 Macau enterprises investing a total of 70 million US dollars in various industries in Yunan, including manufacturing, medical and health, and tourism.
