Fringe Festival opens on Friday

The performance “Sigma”

The 18th Macau City Fringe Festival will commence on Friday at 7:30 pm at the Old Court Building. The event will be held from January 11 to 27.

During the inauguration, the “18th Branch of Macau City Fringe Supermarket” will have its opening. Coming from the United Kingdom, the performance “Sigma” by Gandini Juggling circus and award-winning choreographer Seeta Patel will then take to the stage. The show is described by the Cultural Affairs Bureau as “a combination of circus and classical Indian dance.”

Other performances included in this year’s edition of the Fringe Festival include the Interactive Urban Music Ensemble (featuring an art installation and an outdoor orchestra), “Ephemeral Windows – Rooftop Street Art” (street art made with rice paper), “The Icebook” by British artists Davy & Kristin McGuire (described as “the world’s first projection mapped pop-up book”) and the show “Be My Old Friend” by the Dream Theatre Association, which tells personal stories of the elderly and their cherished objects, piecing together the bygone days of Macau.

This edition of the Fringe Festival also features 10 outreach activities, including workshops, talks, art critique, sharing sessions and more, all seeking to enrich the audience’s artistic experience with more diverse activities.
