The government has launched the “First Store Economy Scheme,” running from Nov. 1 to Jan. 31, 2026, to support overseas, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan brands opening their first stores in Macau. The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) promoted the scheme abroad and locally, offering consultations at major trade fairs. Brands welcomed the opportunity, citing Macau’s tourism market and strategic location. According to IPIM, the initiative aims to boost new business models, strengthen the city’s commercial appeal, and drive community economic growth.
