Caritas hotline sees rise in mental health calls

Caritas Macau has received over 6,000 calls to its Life Hope Hotline so far in 2025, showing a slight year-on-year increase, secretary-general Paul Pun said. He attributed the rise to growing awareness of mental health and ongoing advocacy. Most callers were aged over 30, with a rising number of younger individuals. About 27% of calls involved mental health concerns, and over 200 related to suicidal thoughts. Pun urged the public to support those in distress and avoid sharing suicide-related posts online.
