Local gaming concessionaire Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) has officially submitted an application for an extra 45 gaming tables according to the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Francis Tam. He also revealed yesterday that 35 of these tables are expected to be located at Fisherman’s Wharf.
“Under the condition that it does not violate the government policy on controlling the scale of the gaming [industry], we are actively considering the application from SJM. We have also had sufficient communication with the casino operator regarding this plan. We are considering this idea in a positive light. However, the formal approval is yet to be issued”, he said.
Meanwhile, David Chow Kam Fai, co-chairman and CEO of Macau Legend Development, of which Fisherman’s Wharf is a subsidiary, issued a statement yesterday, saying that the company “is pleased to announce that (…) the director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (the “DICJ) confirmed that 35 additional gaming tables will be granted to the company.”
