Gymnastics Club Macau (GCM) marked a historic milestone last Friday, facing teams and athletes from all over the Greater China region in competition for the first time.
The gymnastics meet took place in the neighboring region of Hong Kong. The local club faced off against counterparties from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China.
The local young athletes performed impressively, earning a string of podium finishes.
Among the standout performances, Fabio Kapuscinski clinched gold on the Floor and silver on the Vault in the 6–8 year-old boys category.
In the 9–12-year-old girls division, Charlotte Law took the first spot on the Floor, while Iris Lu secured gold on the Vault. Mia Turay earned bronze on the Floor and silver on the Vault in the same age group.
In the 13+ year-old girls group, Casslyn Lau (Floor) and Aykie Chan (Vault) placed second and third, respectively.
The club credited its coaches—Nuno Fernandes, Ana Conde, and Tomek Kapuscinski—and the young athletes’ parents’ unwavering support with making the achievement possible.
The GCM noted in a press statement that this debut marks a promising start, with the club eyeing participation in future international competitions. RM
