Macau racer Charles Leong started a brand-new season at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA), scoring two wins in the first two races of the year, which took place last weekend at Sydney’s Motorsport Park in Australia.
Leong finished last year’s campaign in second place and is well-launched for his 2025 campaign to the PRO title.
As in the previous year, Leong is racing at the driving wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 from the SJM Theodore Racing team.
This time, the Macau racer driver is joined by 25-year-old series newcomer and 2022 Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year, Alex Denning.
The duo scored maximum points and now leads the championship, which heads for the second round on May 17 and 18 in the Chinese city of Shanghai.
After the races, Leong said, “P1 in both races this weekend at Sydney… I could not be happier with the team and all the incredible support. We showed an amazing pace and truly dominated the weekend. Excited to carry on this momentum into round 2 in Shanghai.”
As in previous editions, the LSTA championship takes place over six rounds, each with two races. The last round of the season will take place on November 6-7 in Misano, Italy, where all the best classified of the regional championships will meet again for the Super Trofeo World Final to take place on November 8 and 9.
Before that, the LSTA will travel to Fuji, Japan; Inje, South Korea; and Sepang, Malaysia.
To recall, Leong failed to participate in last year’s Macau Grand Prix due to a clash of schedules with the LST World Finals, which took place on the same weekend in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
This year, to avoid such an issue, as several participants from this championship are regulars at Macau, the championship comes to a close precisely one week before machines and drivers take on the challenge of Guia Circuit.
