Macau’s health authority has informed that two new cases of Rubella were discovered on May 3, bringing the total number of recorded incidents of the disease to 33 since the start of the year.

The first of the new cases was diagnosed in a 41-year-old man living in Macau and working at the Landmark casino. The patient presented himself to health authorities on April 28 with headaches, joint pains of the limbs and rashes in the leg.

On May 2, the patient was transferred to the emergency department of the public hospital for treatment. By the following day, the patient was considered to be in a normal state, without fever, although rashes are still present.

The second case was detected in a 48-year- old male surveyor living in Macau.

On April 22, during a trip abroad, he experienced symptoms of chills and fatigue. On April 30 of April he returned to Macau and on May 2 he went to the emergency department of the public hospital. He, too, is now considered to be in a stable condition.

Both patients were understood to have traveled to the mainland recently. Their records of Rubella vaccination is unknown.
