IAM steps up school food safety inspections
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) is conducting routine inspections and spot checks at schools to strengthen food safety controls. IAM said it is paying particular attention to food preparation, ingredient sourcing, storage and hygiene management. Bureau officials are also checking expiration dates and storage conditions for prepackaged foods in school canteens. The bureau said it is inspecting Free Milk Scheme points to ensure milk products are stored at appropriate temperatures and in suitable conditions. IAM said it is working with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) to strengthen oversight of the school food supply chain.
