IC showcases local children’s productions to regional arts industry

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has organized industry exchanges alongside the third Macao International Children’s Arts Festival to promote local performing arts productions and explore opportunities for regional touring.
As part of the initiative, IC presented “Sounds of WOODerland,” a baby theater production created by local producer Chan Si Kei and composer and percussionist Yukie Lai, with artists from Luxembourg and Austria.
IC also organized a Local Program Presentation Session, inviting representatives from stage production companies, theaters and children’s arts festivals from mainland China, Hong Kong and other regions. Six selected teams from IC’s 2024-2026 Commissioning Performing Arts Productions program, along with other local arts groups, presented their projects and discussed potential collaborations, restagings and tours.
The initiative aims to strengthen regional networks for Macau’s performing arts community and create more opportunities for local productions to reach audiences outside the city.
Launched in 2024, the commissioning program selected six projects to develop high-quality local productions and support Macau’s development as a “City of Performing Arts” and a platform for cultural exchange. Two remaining commissioned works are scheduled to be staged later this year.
