The first International Film Festival & Awards Macau (IFFAM) yesterday announced the filmmakers and stars that will be attending this year’s inaugural Festival.
For the opening night film “Polina”, directors Angelin Preljocaj and Valérie Müller, cast members Anastasia Shevtsova, Niels Schneider and Guskov Aleksei, and producer Dider Creste will attend.
According to an IFFAM press release, competition jury president Shekhar Kapur and his jury members are also expected to attend opening night.
Other guests include stars Ludi Lin, Celina Jade, Lisa Lu, and Sakuraba Nanami, among others.
IFFAM will also feature international film festival directors, including the director of the Toronto International Film Festival, Cameron Bailey; Sabrina Baracetti of Italy’s Far East Film Festival; Bero Beyer of the Netherlands’ Rotterdam International Film Festival; and Kang Soo Youn and Kim Dong Ho, Busan International Film Festival’s director and chairman, respectively.
Attendees for the competition films are the director and screenwriter of “Elon Doesn’t Believe In Death” Ricardo Alves Jr., actor and co-screenwriter Germano Melo, producer and editor Michael Wahrmann, and producer Thiago Maçedo Correia, among others.
The release stated that the galas and special screenings will be attended by the director of “The Mole Song – Hong Kong Capriccio”, Takashi Miike, and cast members Toma Ikuta, Tsubasa Honda and producer Misako Saka; director Park Jung Woo of “Pandora”, producer Baik Kyung Sook and the movie’s cast; and “Immortal Story” director Yon Fan, along with a few cast members.
Academy Award-winning director Tom McCarthy will host
a masterclass on “The Art of Storytelling – Using the Personal to Elevate the Political” and producer Gianni Nunnari will host a masterclass on “Producing in Hollywood – Big budget blockbusters, independent genre films and what Hollywood and Asia can learn from each other”.
The IFFAM Closing Night and Awards Ceremony will take place on December 13 at the Cultural Centre.
The event will be attended by “Train To Busan” cast members Kim Su-an, Kim Euisung and Choi Woo-sik and the film’s producer, Lee Dong-ha, who will receive the inaugural Asian Blockbuster Film 2016 Award on the occasion. LV
