ILCM gears up for charity ball

The International Ladies Club of Macau (ILCM) will host their annual charity ball on Saturday night at Studio City Macau, hoping to best the roughly MOP1.14 million that was raised last year.
This year’s theme is ‘The Oscars’, and attendees are required to dress in black tie or as their favorite movie character or movie star.
“Our annual charity ball is the biggest fundraising event of the year,” public relations officer for the association, Barbara Ian, told the Times, “so it’s an important night for us […] which allows us to support local charity organizations and our partners.”
The evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in the Cocktails French Garden at Studio City. Barbara Ian warned that tickets are not likely to be offered at the door so interested parties are advised to purchase them by emailing (tickets@ilcm.org.mo) by Saturday morning.
The non-profit association, established since 1984, has run by English-speaking volunteers from a variety of different national backgrounds. They continually support over 20 charity organizations in the MSAR, as well as provide funding for research and scholarships for local students.
Among the charities supported are the Cradle of Hope Association, which provides a home for abandoned babies and children at risk, the Escola Caritas de Macau day school for disabled children, and Asilo de Betania and Asilo Santa Maria, homes for elderly men and elderly women respectively. DB
