The International Ladies’ Club of Macau (ILCM) gathered for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday and re-elected Sophie Lei as head of the non-profit organization for another mandate.
After the meeting, the association gathered its members and friends for the monthly social event that took place at the China Rouge lounge at the Galaxy Macau.
On the sidelines, the Times spoke to the newly re-elected president who said, “I’m happy to be elected once more. I’ve been in the organization since 2007 working as corporate relations, sponsorship officer, vice president and president and this time I’m very excited to continue in these duties.”
As for events, the already traditional Melbourne Cup (in November) and the Charity Bazar (close to Christmas time) are to remain in the calendar but the new president does not rule out the possibility of adding others. “Firstly we will continue with all the traditional events. As for others, I’ll need to meet the committee first and have a brainstorm to see if we can bring some new ideas in the future and work with new partners and different activity sectors of Macau,” Lei concluded.
The ILCM has been running for 32 years thanks to the exclusive work of volunteers, with the purpose of bringing together English speakers of different nationalities, backgrounds and interests residing temporarily or permanently in the territory.
According to the latest figures, the association raises over MOP1.3 million annually, and the funds are used to support over 20 charity organizations as well as supporting research and providing scholarships.
