Police arrested a local man after he allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of a moving bus while reportedly intoxicated.
The Public Security Police Force (PSP) announced Wednesday that another attempt to seize the steering wheel of a moving bus occurred at the intersection of Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde and Avenida do Parque Industrial, the incident taking place in the early hours of last Saturday. The police said the intoxicated suspect boarded the bus, mistakenly believed he had missed his stop, and, after being denied permission to disembark, tried three times to grab the driver’s steering wheel.
A similar incident late last month saw a mainland Chinese woman arrested after allegedly grabbing the steering wheel of a moving bus – reportedly upset that the driver had not answered her route question – forcing an emergency stop. No passengers were injured in either case.
Police said at a regular press conference that one female passenger was on the vehicle at the time but had left before police officers arrived.
