Labor bureau holds recruitment session for lorry drivers

The Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL) held sessions, on December 1 and 2, that aimed to assist in the process of hiring drivers for the transport of goods, DSAL informed.
The event was held in response to the “current human resources situation of professional drivers” and hoped “to establish a platform for employers and workers, in order to increase the effectiveness of the employment agreements.”
The recruitment process targeted local residents interested in pursuing a profession as a driver of light transport vehicles and the founders of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The session included several procedures such as on-site interviews and signage of pre-recruitment contracts. Several consultancy services on the Labor and Vocational Training laws were also made available.

According to the figures mentioned by DSAL, around 200 people from the recruitment event, which resulted in 86 interviews, involving 52 candidates and 44 companies.
Seven job seekers secured a direct hiring agreement and another 17 were also placed to work in companies after a driving examination.

Participation from the recruitment session came to a total of 115 companies offering 267 job positions for drivers in sectors such as wholesale, retail, food, retail gas, logistics, frozen food, food and beverage establishments and jewelry.

DSAL also said that the average salary for the job vacancies was MOP13,243, of which the highest offer reached MOP20,000 and the lowest was of MOP7,500. Most job vacancies were posted for immediate hiring.
